The daily operational scope of DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR involves managing mission-critical Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases hosting the Hospital Information System (HIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR), tuning SQL queries and indexing structures, executing automated daily backup and point-in-time recovery drills, enforcing database security encryption, and ensuring 24/7 database high availability.

The candidate selection pathway includes scrutiny of BS/MS Computer Science qualifications, followed by a 100-mark written screening test covering relational database architecture, SQL performance optimization, backup/recovery protocols, and English comprehension, culminating in an expert interview.

• ✓Database Architecture & Administration: Install, configure, and manage high-availability Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database environments hosting the HIS.
• ✓Query Optimization & Performance Tuning: Analyze slow SQL queries, optimize table indexing, execution plans, and memory buffer pools for maximum throughput.
• ✓Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement automated RMAN / native database backup strategies and perform routine point-in-time recovery simulations.
• ✓Database Security & Data Integrity: Configure role-based access control, transparent data encryption (TDE), audit logging, and ensure patient data privacy.
• ✓High Availability & Replication: Maintain Oracle Data Guard / SQL Server AlwaysOn availability groups, ensuring minimal RTO and RPO during failovers.
• ✓Database Upgrades & Migration: Plan and execute database version upgrades, patch installations, and data migration scripts with minimal clinical downtime.
